I had hidden the long black bag in the garage for t he past two days. Tonight, in the dark, I would finally take it away. If everything went OK, it would be done by morning. But I had to be sure no one, not even my wife, saw me.
It was more difficult to get away from the party than I expected. I said that the children were tired and needed to get to bed. It was partly true. But the main reason for leaving was that I wanted to complete my plan.
First I had to get the kids to sleep. That was never easy at any time and tonight it was even more difficult. The eldest one wanted to know why we left the party early. I told him 10:30 pm was not early. As usual, I read them a bed time story, but I had to stop myself reading too quickly or they would learn my secret.
Silence finally came, and feeling like a thief in the night, I went out of the house and into the garage. Taking one end, I dragged the bag out from its hid ing place and took it into the garden. I was worried that my neighbours might see me and call the police.
It was already eleven o'clock. By the light of the moon I started working, trying to make as little noise as possible. And that was not easy with a saw (锯子) and a hammer.
After much effort, my work was finally completed. I looked down at my watch. It was exactly 4:00 am. Then I went inside to have a shower and get a few hours of sleep. It wouldn't be long now before the kids would rush into my room and wake me up to tell me about the new tree-house Father Christmas had brought them this year.
A famous study was done in a school by a professor from a university. At the start of the school year, the teachers were given the names of five children. They were told that these five were the most excellent students in the class. But the fact was that these students were only average, and they were not the best students at all. Well, guess what? At the end of the year, all the five average students scored among the highest in the class.
What made these average students change so much to become top students? The only difference was the change in their teachers’ attitude. Because the teachers believed that these five kids were top students, they expected more from them. And so these five average students became to believe and expect more from themselves. So they worked harder to do as well as they could.
Do you know? If you expect the best from people, they’ll usually want to give you their best. A great leader said, “Treat a person just how he appears to be on the outside, and you’ll make him even worse. But treat a person like he’s already a success, and you’ll help make him the best he can be.”
Like the true story of 7-year-old Johnny, his teacher got so angry with him that one day she said, “Johnny, you’re the naughtiest(最调皮的) boy in this class. I’m sure you’ll never change.” The next year Johnny had a new teacher. And on the first day of class, she met with Johnny after school and said, “Johnny, I’ve heard a lot about you! But do you know that I don’t believe a word of it.” And every day after that, this new teacher treated Johnny as if he was one of the smartest students even when Johnny did naughty things. Later on, Johnny became a school leader, because that’s the power of our belief and attitude towards children.
William Lindesay, a British traveler and writer, has been exploring the Great Wall—one of the human’s most wonderful building projects. Not even a Chinese knows the Great Wall of China as well as he does.
When, as a schoolboy, Lindesay announced his plan to explore the Great Wall, nobody took him seriously. But Lindesay achieved his goal, by spending 25 years on the Great Wall and has become one of the world’s most famous experts on its rich history. Lindesay now lives and works in Beijing. This year his new book has come out, The Great Wall Explained, with a lot of photographs and articles.
Running on the Great Wall was a brave trip and Lindesay had already run 3,000 kilometers along it! During those years, he got to many villages along the way. He was often helped by friendly villagers, although they didn’t quite understand why the Englishman would have such interest in the Great Wall.
Let’s enjoy a movie!

From a large elephant to a small mouse, animals live happily together in Disney’s Zootopia. |
I’ve never imagined the movie is so interesting. There are 64 kinds of animals in it. After I watched the movie, I learned more about animals. I would highly recommend this movie to those animal lovers.
—— John
I have seen many cartoons of this kind, but this one is surprisingly funny and I love the sweet voice in it. My brother and I just couldn’t help laughing from the beginning to the end.
—— David
This movie is so well made. I went to see it with my 5-year-old son last Sunday afternoon. I love the beautiful music while my son loves the rabbit police officer Judy very much. It shows that small animals like her can also do serious work.

National Coleman, 37, a British tourist, was arrested (逮捕) at Sri Lanka’s international airport on Monday. She is now at a centre in the airport waiting for a flight back to the UK. Airpor t of ficers told Ms Coleman that her Buddha (佛像) tattoo (纹身) on her arm was disrespectful to Sri Lankan culture. A police spokesman said she was arrested for the Buddha.
This is not the first time that tourist was sent back to the UK last year because he spoke disrespectfully when passport offers asked him about a Buddha tattoo on his arm. Britain’s Independent newspaper reports that in 2010, R&B star Akon was told he could not visit Sri Lanka because of a video for his song. The video showed a pool party in front of a Buddha. A British government website warns who visit Sri Lanka not to pose (摆姿势) for photos in front of a Buddha.
