    Of course both signs told people the boy was blind. But the first sign simply told people to help by putting some money in the hat. The second sign told people that they were able to enjoy the beauty of the day, but he could not enjoy it because he was blind. The first sign simply said the boy was blind, while the second sign told peop le they were so lucky that they we re not blind.
    There are at least two lessons we can learn from this simple story. The first is: Treasure (珍惜) what you have. Someone else has less. Try your best to help those who need your help. The second is: Be creative. Think differently. There is always a better way.

    If you go to a food restaurant, you will probably see a lot of teenagers. Today many teenagers are overweight, and some of this is because of their bad eating habits. Most teenagers love food with a lot of fat, oil, salt, and sugar. People often call this kind of food “junk food”.
    But bad eating habits go beyond (超出) fast food. We find many teenagers eat unhealthily. Some don't have breakfast before they go to school. During the day, some don't have a proper meal for lunch. In recent survey at one school, scientists found that over two-thirds of the students didn't follow a healthy diet. They didn't like vegetables, and many of them didn't like to eat fruits. They preferred to eat food with a lot of salt, sugar or fat.

    Teenagers need to drink more milk. Milk will help their bones grow.
    Teenagers need to eat breakfast every day. This is good for their body and mind.

    All our food comes from the soil (土壤). Some of us eat meat, but animals live on plants. If there were no plants, we should have no animals and meat. So the soil is necessar y for life.
    The top of ground is usually covered with grass or other plants. Plants grow in soil, which has a dark color. This dark soil is humus, dead leaves, dead plants and animals waste make it, but this takes a long time When the humus has been made, plants can grow well in it. All soil needs food. If we don't give it any, the plants will be weak. Animals waste is the best food for the soil, but chemical fertilizers (化肥) are also very useful. The same crop should not be grown in the same place every year, it is better to have a different crop. A change of crop and the use of a good fertilizer will keep the land in good condition.
    When the soil is dry, the wind blows it away. Sometimes heavy rain carries the humus down to a river. People should grow more and more trees and grass to stop wind from carrying the humus away. It takes hundreds of years to make humus, and so we must save every bit of it. Without soil, where can we grow food?
